Our Story
Our Story
We have been married for 16 years and have enjoyed a ministry that has focused on ‘faith in the family’. We have four children and four grandchildren between us. We also had the privilege of being respite foster parents for many years whilst living in Oxfordshire. John was originally a Gas engineer, who after a dramatic encounter with God trained as a Church Army Officer some 35 years ago. He has a heart for men’s ministry and supporting families in a variety of settings, including the traditional church, the prison service, community work and the Foodbank.
Mandy connected quietly with God as a child which has been the bedrock of her life. She is an Early Years Educator who has worked as a lecturer, training and mentoring those who work with children and families in both secular and sacred settings. Also working with Dads and their families in prison. And leading family ministry within the traditional church.
Our Dream
Our Dream
Hospitality, generosity, inclusion and welcome are key. Inviting family and friends, old and new, regardless of age, faith or life choices to their home. Being bold and intentional about sharing Jesus stories naturally in everyday conversations.
Our Rhythms
Weekly
Microchurch meeting in homes or in community as part of the B.Network. Quality time for worship, prayer, connecting with others on mission, sharing stories, encouraging each other, encountering God and eating together.
Morning prayer on Zoom Monday, Wednesday and Friday. A short but important time to encounter God’s presence with others in the B.Network.
Discovery Bible Study (DBS) on Zoom with parents Monday and Tuesday term time. An hour session that helps us to grow our faith, pray for each other and share our stories.
Stay and Play. As volunteers at Hatchford Brook Family Hub we set up a Stay and Play as a welcoming environment for local families. Our sessions run on a Tuesday afternoon for forty plus families. We offer play, refreshments, crafts, friendship and singing during the session.
Quarterly
Messy Church at Hatchford Brook Family Hub. Messy church is a way of being church where everyone is welcome. It is Christ centred, for all ages, based on creativity, hospitality and celebration. Whilst we are building a team of volunteers who share our vision for ‘faith in the family’, we will run on the last Saturday in June, September and November 2.30pm to 4pm. From January 2026 we hope to run every month.
